My stance on Amtrak’s proposed fencing project is that it causes much more harm than good, and is a very poor idea. The Hudson River is by far the most valuable/beautiful asset that we have here in Columbia & Dutchess County, so I strongly oppose anything that will interfere with our community’s ability to enjoy it.
I am a Dutchess County Legislator, and I have seen how incredibly important tourism is to our local economy. People visit the Hudson Valley from all across the globe to take in our nature and its beauty. Big fences and gates will only inhibit this.
